I have this problem with "adaptive AI" - there’s a very trivial sense in which AI adapts (like rivers which "adapt" their flow), there’s a normative sense (adaptive in contrast to maladaptive), and then there’s this inexplicable quality that somehow distinguishes proprietary LLMs from "static" AI
