Easy to learn and hop in. Satisfying to master.

The RPG side of usual tactics stuff is trimmed out of here to make for something lean but tasty.

Wish I could just live in the combat forever.

Only got a review code last week but god damn this game is fucking great so far.

It uses its PS1/SNES era inspiration so well in terms of world and writing. Off the wall, really weird, but charming.

Reminds me a lot of the absurd writing from point and click adventures I grew up with.

If this team had more time to cook (it’s only been two years since the last one) they could make something that truly feels like the home you remember

(Home being Battle for Bikini Bottom)

Constantly switching between Spongebob and Patrick for their respective abilities in both combat and platforming get you in a really fun flowstate that reminded me a lot of the zany gameplay of a Psychonauts

The story restricts the fun aspect of exploring bikini bottom which leads to only a handful of levels that are mostly forgettable location wise

However, the level design and gameplay gave for some really fun platforming sequences and battle arenas.

This bubble needed to pop. Just wish it was earlier and not when so much money was invested in a technology that rich people wanted to use to replace us.

Happy it doesn’t seem to be working out with replacing the work force. Not stoked about how we’re all gonna feel the financial pain like 2008.
