I moved from New Mexico U.S. to Otago region New Zealand. (expat)
New Zealand is windy due to a strong westerly winds and its narrow, mountainous geography. In the winter it's influenced by Antarctica and the summer by the equator. But always windy.

What's wild is both Russians and Ukrainians are the same people. Identical DNA. Israelis and the Palestinians both have a 50% match in DNA from their ancestors sharing that soil.
