It’s a party and a protest. Today we were inspired and entertained by The Mighty Souls Brass Band from 4:30-5:30 at Poplar and Highland, Memphis, 38111. Maybe 200 or so in attendance. Saturday we’ll be back there 1 pm- 3 pm for the national day of protest April 5. @indivisiblememphis.bsky.social

The campus of the University of Memphis- Admin Building. It’s one of my favorite places to go on a mindful stress management walk at night- it helps me recharge my personal batteries after a tough day doing psychotherapy. Cool lighting. Love those Tiger Eyeszzz.

The daffodils are up and blooming at the campus of the U of Memphis. It was a great afternoon for a post-storm walk. There was also a rugby match going on- those players were quite muddy.

He’s 16! My best non-human friend, Neo, just celebrated his 16th birthday. He moves a little less and sleeps a little more than he used to, just like I do. We’re both a couple of compatible old dudes just getting by one day at a time, together.

Tomorrow looks like a definite snow day in Memphis for those who celebrate.

A Hawk high up in the oak tree at the end of the track at the
Elma Roane Field House at the U of Memphis. The hawk was waiting for a nearby squirrel to make a fatal mistake.

Here’s some really good news:

The rugby 🏉 field is covered in snow ❄️. The track, however, was very walkable. Carol and I enjoyed an hour or so of walking- 36 degrees, no wind, sunny- quite pleasant! No one else was there today. At the Field House, U of Memphis.

My cat, Neo, is reconsidering his choice to go outside in Memphis this morning. It looks like we will get 5-7” of snow here. Memphis will shut down for a couple of days.

32 degrees, walking at the track before the snow hits. Nice night at the Field House, U of Memphis.

I donated blood today at the Red Cross in Midtown Memphis on Madison. It was not too busy today- they said donations are lower during the holidays. But the music they were playing was great!

There’s a large redtailed hawk on the center of the field lights. I couldn’t see it with the naked eye because the field lights blinded me. But when I looked through my phone, I saw this- I wasn’t blinded by the light. An aircraft approaches from the right of the hawk. U of Memphis Fieldhouse

Ha! I took this picture at Buster’s a couple of days ago. Didn’t buy it but it definitely caught my attention.

Silhouette of a barred owl last night on the rugby goal post at the U of Memphis Field House. We were pretty close when we snapped this pic. It was a very large bird.

Neo and I like cat photos. Henry looks pretty chill.

To everything there is a season, and the season for Memphis figs is done for now. The recent cold snap has ended the time of the leaves.

Getting myself psyched up to chase insulin for my cat, Neo. I often have problems getting the pharmacy to understand that my cat has no health insurance and I have to pay out of pocket. It’s like $375 or something, but it lasts several months.
