I heard this was for a game that didn't exist? Seen it around, it looks cool!!

Honestly, I think the narrator's voice in Shriek allows it to stand up on its own,if you're comfortable with *not understanding some things*. City of Saints and Madmen/Finch were both great in their own rights but I go back and read Shriek on its own a lot.

I've done this with quite a few trilogies, first by accident and then on purpose. Two of the most interesting experiences arose from reading Empty Space: A Haunting (m john harrison) before its prequels, and Shriek: An Afterword (jeff vandermeer) before either City or Finch.
