I reflexively hi-fived a bat mid-air (based but accidental), the little dude was so impressed he bit me finger, I saw Dr. Batman at the ER, and then one of his goons stabbed me like three times.

None of this is a joke. Wednesday was weird.

Isn't that a sight to see? Start of Day Four, first day waking up in a tent. It's beautiful. Raining. Fresh air. It's a little loud, this is a test run in a state rec area before running off to the woods woods, but it's still much better than the walls of a hotel or apartment. Wags!

The first day. I'm in a hotel room, safe, antsy, winding down to sleep, contemplating. The apartment is no more. Everything I own is in storage or in my car. There's a few loose ends to tie down as one would expect, but soon, I will lose and find all of myself in the serenity of the wilderness.

At the foot of the bed is a black cabinet with a microwave and refrigerator below and a large rectangular television looming above. The walls are a sickening shade of off-white tinted by a warm light that can be seen reflected in the otherwise dead visage of the TV. There is a strange bulbous light, dark and cold, watching from the ceiling above. You can almost smell the acrid cleaning chemicals and discount carpet perfume leaking off the image. This is a hotel room, a cheap hotel room at that.

RESIST AND BITE

how strange it is to be anything at all
A long-exposure photo of the horizon and sky taken from the roof of a vehicle (visible in the shadows at the bottom of the image). There is a HAM radio antenna piercing through the center of the, deep into the starry night sky. The sky is a beautiful medley of greens and blues exploding outwards and upwards from the horizon- all fading into purple, blue, and black around the edges. It feels like staring into the face of the cosmos, and seeing the universe smile back.
