This past weekend’s work was finally framing the peony I painted in 2019. Only took six years to do a thing that took four hours or so.

Saw a painted doorway on Pinterest last night and became obsessed with the idea of Swedish folk art in the primary bedroom. Spent ten hours today painting this doorway. Initial inspiration from Riley Sheeley art. Further inspo: historic design from Swedish artist Carl Larsson. More to come!

Apparently this gal who DMd me about my story post regarding Bishop Budde has trouble with facts like the population of the United States for starters. Not to mention that a third of our country didn’t even vote. Folks are unwell. And… That’s a lot of capital letters.

I’m down to BlueSky, Pinterest and LinkedIn. I’m going to need some video content here with subtitles for when I wake up at 3am. Also, pet photos and video would be welcome. Here’s Ruth Bader Doodlesburg to get the party started.

How old were you in 1980? I was 11. When the preppy handbook came out I did not understand it was satire. To my 11 year old self, it was a genuine style guide. And I only recently realized that was not the intent. Also, I reallllllllyyyy want my Bermuda bag with the wooden handle back. Off to eBay!

My mom would have been 81 years old tomorrow. She passed of Pancreatic Cancer November 20 of last year. Please join me in celebrating her birthday and her life by purchasing a print of her last piece of art painted while she was undergoing chemo. All net proceeds to go to PanCan.

#textstomyhusband It’s been long agreed upon that I do not follow instructions particularly well. Nor do I want to do this task.

So, I guess it’s time to lean on my own wisdom at 55 and approve of myself for myself. Do we only truly become adults when the person we wanted approval from most is no longer available to give it?

Below is my sketchbook from the past few days. I am pretty sure she sees it.

Rolling into 2025 trying to develop a new daily sketchbook habit. Starting with long-avoided and dreaded faces… meeting the challenge head on. See what I did there?
