Despite an initial outcry, the AfD barely paid a price for having had strategy meetings with neonazis

amazingly the @instagram help page has a section on removing potential spam accounts from your followers, but absolutely no help to get unflagged as a potential scam. They flag you without telling you, you can't see it anywhere unless your followers warn you, and can't appeal

The notification says "some accounts" prefer this, even when they're public. I'm pretty sure reuters doesn't want to manually review every follow request, and this started happening for every page recently. If my page is flagged as suspicious, why can't I see it in my account status and just appeal?

Weird thing: I never got notified that anything was wrong with my account, and the "account status" in my settings says everything is fine. Wtf? How can I appeal or report this?

But regardless of whether you agree with the sanctions against Hüseyin and red., this is not about Palestine or pro-Palestine journalism, this is about Russia, and the narrative pushed by red. that they are being silenced for their pro-Palestine stance is simply false.
May 25, 2025 at 6:29 PM
Russia does not support Palestine. They are not your ally. They are simply weaponizing support for Palestine to destabilize the EU.
But the only reason they're able to do that, is bc of how the EU has dealt with the crisis in Gaza and failed to uphold its own standards and live up to its rhetoric.

One of the clearest examples is operation "red hands" where Russian agents framed pro-Palestine demonstrators for the vandalism of a holocaust monument in Paris last year.

That being said, the EU has torched any semblance of credibility it had on human rights and democracy with its support of Israel in the last 2 years.
This has left the door wide open for Russia to massively capitalize on the pro-Palestine movement to sow further division in Europe.
May 25, 2025 at 6:29 PM
In the full sanctions announcement by the EU, (Hüseyin aside) all affected individuals and entities are Russian or Russia-linked. There are no independent pro-Palestine media or orgs among them.
This new round of sanctions against Russia was expected.

Hüseyin worked for Redfish and doesn't deny (or confirm) that Lizzie Phelan, the founder of Redfish still works for red. media - although he does deny ties to Russia and the label of "successor company" to redfish
May 25, 2025 at 6:29 PM
That's because Hüseyin is the founder of "red." which also goes by "red media" and "redstream", and is believed to be the successor company of Russia-connected "redfish", which was closed in the first round of sanctions against Russia when they invaded Ukraine.
May 25, 2025 at 6:29 PM
As we can see in the opening paragraph of the letter they received and published, the stated reason for the sanctions is alleged ties to Russia
