Is this like a little mom and pop type practice? I feel like you should at least have some kind of update unless they literally just don’t have enough people to do things. Also some dogs/cats are seriously uncooperative for blood draws

Yeah, not surprising with it being a private practice. Usually they have to send bloodwork out for interpretation from a 3rd party like Idexx or Zoetis. Sometimes that includes the cost to ship samples

It really depends on where you go, private practice vs corporate hospital can make a world of difference. Ask for itemized receipts, you should be able to search for the average in your state.
