PHEVs work extremely well for people who need to drive long distances with poor charging infrastructure (good luck finding anything > 50kW on some South Island highways). I have a PHEV which is driven 90% electric but it has unlimited range (aka "charges" in 5 minutes) when I need it, perfect.
