CORRECTION: There are actually 81 party combinations after setting up rules to prevent a player from having more than one character in each group.

After working on this for a month. Soaking up a lot of creative time and energy, I had my first "My god, this is all for ONE dungeon." Followed by the realization, "My god, I'm building the same dungeon three times." Why am I doing time travel to begin with? Is this white whale worth it?

This leads to a lengthy THREE PAGE set of contingency plans of what party to fling where, based on party makeup. There are nearly 12k possible party combinations. But basically I have rules for myself to try and swing a more skills based group in one direction, a more combat party another.

Which party (past/present/future) do you start with? What happens if all the 'smart' characters all are flung into one time space? Thus began my delving into selecting random characters and postulating how they would behave in each time space.

While the third party will be standing around bewildered that nothing really happened to them, but now two thirds of their friends have poofed somewhere else. Great premise. Here is where it all gets weird.

Then those parties, and a scattering of their travelling NPCs would be launched 150 years into the past, to see the location at the height of the divine war. Another party would be launched 150 years into the future to see that even a ravaged continent can still get worse.

The players (in a caravan) would arrive at a particular location and observe phenomena that is spooky and cryptic. Further interaction would see the phenomena turn it's attention to the caravan and blast the whole thing. Players are then prompted to divide into three parties, with some rules.

So, without trying to summarize years of sessions and worldbuilding, the basic gist is the players are on a continent that was destroyed and cursed at the end of a war between it's ruling kingdom and multiple deities that were dragged into a divine conflict.

Of course, that's how it always starts. But then I have to reconcile, as the game is on hiatus for my mental health, the monstrosity that is a dungeon based on time travel, requiring three parties of adventurers (12 characters). This marks one of my first real posts so lets dive in.
