I associate the last 50 years, 20 of which I wasn't alive for yet, with the economically deregulatory movement of greed and our culture as defined by profit-motivated commercial consumerism, otherwise known as neoliberalism. One of two outcomes seem likely: either imperialism or socialist democracy!
