We are NOT overturning the will of the people. Virginians would ultimately have to decide if the General Assembly should be granted this one-time, narrow authority.

Thankfully no one was hurt on LG Winsome Earle-Sears’ bus when it caught on fire this afternoon. Voter outreach is an important part of all campaigns, and I’m relieved to hear everyone is okay.

The Senate is set to review HJ6007. We are considering this option b/c Trump is trying to memorialize his unpopular policies that are hurtful to many Virginians and undermine the democratic process by urging R states to redraw districts.

I was honored to participate today in Arlington Historical Society & the Black Heritage Museum’s dedication of “Stumbling Stones”, a project that memorializes enslaved individuals in my neighborhood and throughout Arlington. May we never forget our history.

Hearing officers in the special education dispute resolution process need to be trained to ensure a certain level of knowledge & skills across all school systems in Virginia. Commission on Youth members will work diligently with stakeholders to ensure that this training takes place.
The Virginia Commission on Youth unanimously approves a new study urging major reforms to the special-education compliance system — including detaching the Parent Ombudsman’s office from the Virginia Department of Education to bolster neutrality and trust.

October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, a reminder that early detection saves lives. As a survivor, I know firsthand the power of routine screenings. It breaks my heart that Trump & the GOP’s attacks on affordable care would deny thousands of Virginians these lifesaving tests.

Honored to be recognized by the VA Task Force on Primary Care along with Sen. Pillion, Del. Sickles & Del. Hodges for improving access to primary care services. More needs to be done in these times of funding uncertainties & increased barriers to accessing health care.

Today is PANS/PANDAS awareness day. A healthy child suddenly wakes up w/ severe anxiety, aggression, OCD, restricted eating, tics, & more—sometimes overnight. It could be PANS or PANDAS, disorders many doctors still don’t recognize, so learn the symptoms: vdh.virginia.gov/pandaspans
