You were asking for my view, Zoe. Here's EMC's response, which I contributed to. Broadly, as you'll see, we very much welcome much of it, and are relieved to see the clear advice on changes to English GCSEs. Not everything I'd have hoped for but generally very positive. @greeborunner.bsky.social

Something I noticed too. That would make a big difference.

I thought it was in the report Megan. Am I wrong about my reading of that?

Ha ha! I'm often quite quick off the mark, to be honest, but in this case I'd like to share thoughts with a few other people first. A huge amount of work has gone into this Review, it's a very, very important moment & I really don't want it to be about point-scoring or knee-jerk reactions.

I have seen it. I'm looking carefully at it with colleagues before commenting, so I don't end up saying something hurried & ill-considered. My very first (personal) thoughts are that there's quite a lot to be very pleased about & a few things that are a bit more concerning. More thoughts to follow..

Ignore the question mark at the end of the last line. A typo!

Yes to this! Why don't the policymakers go to the people who are genuine experts. having done actual classroom research & research with readers? I'm going to try to get to some of the sessions.

Another Bilston classic, read aloud to my husband and giggled over, for quite some considerable time!
