Still believe in a kinder, more just world. Knitter and fibre enthusiast.
A lot have spoken of what he did but it was also what we didn’t do. he squandered the opportunity to develop the infrastructure to allow us to be competitive in the future instead giving small tax cuts and payouts to pensioners for votes.

In the neighbourhood next to mine as people age the old housing commission homes are selling and being demolished and replaced with large luxury houses, no net increase in dwellings but streets lined with tradespeople cars.

I think the media loves to keep us trapped in young vs old debates rather than focus on how we can create a more fair society for all or alternative ways we can increase our taxation base such as taxing gas

And the Australian company has just positively affirmed its DEI commitment.

They tried to get the qld police to do it and they refused

I lived through the 17% interest rate period, essentials were cheaper relative to your income discretionary items were more expensive. So we remember we couldn’t afford new furniture but forget how cheap food, electricity, petrol and housing was relative to income.

I got polled and was asked how I felt about crime, my response was it is irrelevant as it is not a federal issue.

What about the countries that share security information with you or have your bases on our soil. Why should we trust you not to side with those that threaten us. Are we now harbouring the enemy. I expected the USA to isolate and not help during this period but I now fear you could actively betray.

If you move away from the élite universities filled with private school kids, to the next tier you will find students lining up for food pantries, sleeping in their cars, working full time so they can survive? We are close to pre Whitlam times where University is a privilege afforded the wealthy.

University’s are barely able to retain the staff they have at the moment. What would be better is to relax visa quotas and market to liberal US parents who want their kids somewhere safe for the next few years, this would help fund additional research capacity to attract US research talent.

It is not about DEI it is cronyism and corruption. If it was was DEI they would have picked the existing white male heads of the Army or Airforce. America’s window of opportunity to resist Is disappearing.

A new knitter doesn’t understand the pattern, an experienced knitter doesn’t follow the pattern 😀

Loved it, such a refreshing change to watch intelligent debate without caring what Murdoch thinks.
February 16, 2025 at 8:24 AM
Can I ask what aspects you noticed that suggest that?

The days these men look back on fondly are gone forever. Destroyed not by women but by the drive for productivity. Taking merit out of the equation will mean businesses will be less competitive and if they can’t hire the best in US will move offshore or fail.

Aukus should have been abandoned as soon as labour got in, now this is virtually just a donation to ensure trump forgets Australia exists. Our connection to the US makes us less safe.

It would be good to have a list of his Australian supporters beyond Rupert and Gina and their businesses to also include.
February 5, 2025 at 2:38 AM
I was polled yesterday by what I suspect is a liberal internal poll. The questions were revealing ie was I concerned about crime in my local area I said no but local crime is not a federal responsibility. Also wanted to know how I voted for the voice. They are going division all the way.

Julia Gillard got more achieved in a minority government than most majority governments. She was attacked and vilified constantly because she was a woman not for her performance. This govt has so much potential talent sitting wasted behind a weak leader.
