I'm directing a musical about deconstruction and I hope you come see it. It's the perfect place to heal your inner child and celebrate the gays and heretics! 💜🦩
Idk how to end this long rant other than saying, you don't need to change to be loved. You don't need to change to be beautiful. Fat is not a bad word. You are worthy of love and respect right here, right now. And you'll always be safe with me. 💜

10) Fatphobia is extremely pervasive, even (especially?) in the medical community. You deserve compassionate medical care regardless of your body size, and the shame around being fat actually KEEPS people from getting the care they need. 🧵(11/?)

9) When you start the negative self talk, ask yourself, whose voice is this? Who benefits from your self-hatred? Patriarchy wants women to be undernourished and to have low self esteem so they are easier to control. Don't give them that satisfaction. 🧵 (10/?)

8)The quest for skinny is never done. You'll find new things to hate about yourself. Find peace with the here and now. You don't owe anyone perfection. You don't owe anyone beauty. You deserve to exist how you are and be loved. *How you look is the least interesting thing about you.* 🧵(9/?)

7) You can't hate yourself into a version of yourself that you'll love. 🧵(8/?)

6) Some skinny people are incredibly unhealthy. Some people are "unhealthy" due to pre-existing conditions. Many people have disabilities that can make them under/over weight. Other people's health is none of your business. We should respect people REGARDLESS of their health!!! 🧵(7/?)

5) Learning that there is nothing morally wrong about being fat is crucial. Our current beauty standards are rooted in racism and supported by capitalism (weight loss industry makes $$$ and feeds off of your insecurity). 🧵(6/?)

4) The obsession with being thin can be EXTREMELY damaging. Drastic weight loss and prolonged under-eating puts a lot of stress on your heart. It can rapidly diminish muscle mass and bone density. Not to mention the mental toll of constantly hating your body and hoping to change it. 🧵(5/?)

3) Some people will never be skinny. They could be the most active, healthy person in the world and live in a larger body due to genetics. They could have a health condition that makes exercise and losing weight difficult. Regardless? Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect! 🧵(4/?)

2) Just because you were naturally skinny when you were younger doesn't mean you're meant to be skinny forever. We gain weight. We lose weight. We get acne. We get wrinkles. It is a gift to live, morph, and evolve with time. 🧵(3/?)

Yes, there are sometimes legitimate reasons to lose weight, and there can be healthy, sustainable ways to do this. HOWEVER.

1) Not everyone is meant to be skinny. Our species has a range of skeletal structures and body weight. Always has, always will.

Right?? I'm going to save up my money to travel or one day *maybe* be able to buy a house. I'm not wasting it on a bunch of cosmetic procedures or surgeries or fancy miracle goop.
