Haven’t done too much reading or listening the last couple of weeks, but have been in a good writing flow and enjoyed bits of a couple of great books. Working on a new trio for POING and a production with Scenatet and my friend Magga Bjarna.

Albums of the week:

Concentration by Susan Alcorn. Absolutely gorgeous.

Maria Callas: Pure.
I love this album, it puts me in a good mood every time. In the strange times we are living right now, I really recommend listening to it for cleansing and refocusing✨

Books of the week:

Digital Minimalism: Choosing a Focused Life in a Noisy World by Cal Newport

The Patriarchs: How Men Came to Rule by Angela Saini

Ensamtal by Ann Jäderlund

Was not too fond of the first two. I found Jäderlund’s poetry selection beautiful (and musical!).

Book of the week:
The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann. I don’t know what to say but ranting about this one to @heatherroche.bsky.social got me through it and now there is a movement of 7 bars in my new orchestra piece called man flu mountain and I won’t say why.

Album of the week: J.S. Bach: Three Or One - Transcriptions by Fred Thomas. Such a gorgeous album, recommended to me by my friend Skúli, that I’ve been listening to on repeat. The transcriptions are really brilliant and the intonation is just beyond beautiful.
