Some cool news: I got to do a fun side project. I’ll be co-hosting a limited series called “Books We’ve Loved.” It’s where we revisit some of our fave books or read classics for the first time. I’m stoked. It starts Saturday, October 18th in the Books We Love feed from NPR. The said books are below:

With the world currently how it is, I’m gonna appreciate the wins. Thanks to the New York Festivals Radio Awards for honoring Amazing Sport Stories: The Black 14. Super proud to be its host and to talk to these brave men about a fateful college football game in 1969.

And the pro-troop/ anti-war doc FTA, w Jane Fonda, Donald Sutherland & Paul Mooney’s traveling show “Free the Army” that all but vanished until the mid-2000s.
TW: Disturbing images at the end.

All of Schoolhouse Rock is on Disney+, if you need them. The most problematic is the explanation of westward expansion as “Elbow Room.” But the rest are pretty good refreshers for what the US is meant to stand for.
The irony that they’re largely accessible thru a giant corporation isn’t lost on me

I’m suppose to remember something I saw in April of 2022? I’m not even the same person I was in 2022. I couldn’t even tell you my login passwords from 2022. I’ve had 3 different jobs since the first season ended. I’m going in with 0 memory of 95% of the show.
Much like an outie.

Mind you, this man isn’t president until TOMORROW. This doesn’t bode well. I assume free speech will continue to be threatened as a negotiation tactic going forward. But… you know… the dances are back.

I know we’re viewed as nothing but consumers. But wouldn’t it be, I dunno, more convenient at a train station for the train info to be where the giant shifting screens are? Instead of the little pillar screens that you’ve gotta see up close then run to a far off gate? Moynihan, what are we doing?

Currently working on part of a Code Switch ep for this week about spending all of Election Day in a room full of civics teachers navigating the life of Shirley Chisholm… and Election Night confronting reality at Trump Tower.
