Here’s a map of the patch. Chipstead Station is 10 minutes walk away. There’s a free car park at the top right corner.
Holly Lane car park has become a repository for lost dog stuff. #BansteadWood

You’d think someone would notice that their child had lost their specs. But it seems not. ///pace.calm.owner

Does this win prettiest poo of the day award?

Jill’s Bench’s animals at the start of Banstead Woods ParkRun seem to have been spruced-up with darker coats. It’s good to see that they’re being looked after.

Another excellent report on Banstead Woods ParkRun One day these reports will be flagged on @BlueSky, and not the musky cess-pit www.parkrun.org.uk/banstead/news/

Spindle ermine moth caterpillars seem very active this year. Despite stripping all the leaves, apparently it doesn’t kill the tree, and the caterpillars are a food source for birds.

Excellent ParkRun report. The title may be an allusion to a large contingent of vocal dogs whose eagerness to get going drowned out the announcements www.parkrun.org.uk/banstead/new...

Bluebells looking thin this year. Adverse weather conditions? Or are the blackberries overwhelming them? @reigatebanstead.bsky.social

Yet another disintegrating memorial seat in #BansteadWood. Is nobody responsible for maintenance? Where is the user’s voice in how the area is managed? @reigatebanstead.bsky.social

Still remembered ….

A sad memorial seat on a little-used path. I wonder who Julia’s “countryside friends” were.

I wonder how decisions are made about work done to #BansteadWood Expensive new gates but no improvements to muddy paths. When are users of the wood ever consulted? @reigatebanstead.bsky.social

Someone’s fighting back against the idiots who dump dog-poo bags. More power to their elbow 👍🏼. Seen on the Banstead Down side of Holly Lane. ///dish.branded.rooms

I’m regularly seeing and picking up these coloured dog poo bags on the Chipstead Down side of #BansteadWood. I asked ChatGPT why people discard bags like this. Fascinating answers!

The start zone at Banstead Wood ParRun is under-appreciated. Looking forward to ploughing through slippery mud on Saturday 😢

An excellent set of photos from the latest #BansteadWoodParkRun, run in damp, slippery conditions, followed by a glow of self-satisfaction www.flickr.com/photos/bwp_p... Thanks to volunteers & and all who make it possible

They’re at it again. Those folk who believe in poo fairies 😳

This has implications for sites like #BansteadWood, where paths will get boggier if drainage and surfaces are not improved now. Walkers will erode side vegetation as they avoid puddles, thus further damaging this SSI. @reigatebanstead.bsky.social
A great question was asked of me last night by @sirgeogy.bsky.social :

"on related note does your local data show any increase in rain intensity"

These graphs answer that question - YES!!

When the path linking Park Farm and Perrott’s Farm is dry in all weathers, why are other paths neglected and increasingly muddy? Could it be that brick rubble was sensibly used in the past? #BansteadWood @reigatebanstead.bsky.social

Intrigued by this commemorative plaque. Had to look up “gradely”. In Yorkshire dialect, it means "excellent," "proper," or "worthy." It is used to describe something or someone as being of good quality, respectable, or admirable.

Commemorative benches are a touching feature of #BansteadWood, perhaps more so when they fall into disrepair. Have those who dedicated them also gone?
