An adult Gammoth is considered to be an equal to Tigrex.

Note: Yeah, Gammoth is around the same level of strength as Tigrex. In some cases, its strength does exceed Tigrex's, though we have to remember that some individuals in a species are more exceptional than others.
November 6, 2024 at 3:21 PM
At first, Gammoth fears Tigrex, but that changes as the individual ages and grows larger. That fear turns into utter rage, making it into a fearsome giant. The more afraid of Tigrex a young Gammoth is, the stronger and more rage-filled it'll become.
November 6, 2024 at 3:19 PM
One of the main predators of young Gammoth is Tigrex.

Tigrex can be considered a "bully" to young Gammoth. While young Gammoth greatly fear Tigrex, adult Gammoth absolutely despise the flying wyvern.

Note: All of the Gammoth we encounter in-game are female (The same applies for Elderfrost). We have no idea what their sexual dimorphism is like.

We may not know what a male Gammoth looks like, but I imagine they look something like this. These are old sketches of Gammoth. x.com/CAPCOM_MHB/s...

While the Popo provide protection for the calf, the mother provides the herd protection from predators.

Since Popo travel in large numbers, it's more likely that one of them will be targeted by a predator instead of the calf. That's the real reason why Gammoth join Popo herds.
November 6, 2024 at 3:13 PM
The mother has a strong bond with her calf and will do whatever it takes to protect it.

Gammoth don't travel in herds, however, they will occasionally join passing Popo herds while rearing young.

Unlike an adult Gammoth, a young Gammoth has white fur that it uses for camouflage. When a predator is near, it'll lie on the ground and pretend to be a rock/snow pile. While young, a Gammoth will stick close to its mother, hiding under her for protection.
November 6, 2024 at 3:11 PM
As mentioned above, Gammoth are generally quite peaceful and have few predators.

However, young Gammoth have many predators.
November 6, 2024 at 3:10 PM
If a predator attacks its rear end, Gammoth will either wag its tail to knock it off or sit on it.

Gammoth don't bother humans for the most part, but they become more aggressive and bold when they are hungry. They'll sometimes invade villages to feed on the wooden homes.

While the snowclod does provide its legs extra defense, it mainly functions as a weapon for Gammoth. As Gammoth slams feet into the ground, bits of snowclod will fly off its body and hit nearby creatures. A single hit from the snowclod can stun creatures as large as a Giadrome.
November 6, 2024 at 3:04 PM
Even if it doesn't stomp on its target, there is a good chance that Gammoth still managed to land a hit.

As mentioned above, Gammoth can adhere snow to its limbs, and special fluids secreted from its legs harden it, creating "Snowclod."
November 6, 2024 at 3:03 PM
It primarily fights enemies with its tusks and trunk, but its entire body is a weapon.

Gammoth will slam its feet onto the ground as it fights, disorienting its enemies with tremors as it tries to crush them to a pulp.
November 6, 2024 at 3:02 PM
Locals have reported that it can cause blizzards with its trunk. In reality, it sucks snow and ice into its trunk before then firing a gust of freezing wind out of it.

It'll use its tusks to uplift the frozen earth, encasing its enemies in snow and preventing them from escaping its unyielding rage.
November 6, 2024 at 2:59 PM
Sometimes it'll even grab hunters with its trunk and smash them into the ground several times. When Gammoth puts all of its weight into an attack utilizing its trunk, it can be fatal for hunters.
November 6, 2024 at 2:57 PM
Besides using its trunk to find food, Gammoth uses that appendage to suck up and fire snowballs at enemies. It'll also use it to pick up and toss giant snowballs at enemies.

If its enemies are too far away, Gammoth will suck in a large amount of air through its trunk to pull them closer.
November 6, 2024 at 2:55 PM
Once a Gammoth goes on a rampage, it is difficult to get it to calm down.

It's a slow monster, but its massive size and incredible strength more than makeup for its sluggish movements.
November 6, 2024 at 2:48 PM
As mentioned above, Gammoth is a relatively peaceful monster. However, its demeanor changes when it feels threatened.

There is a good reason why locals liken Gammoth to a god. When threatened, Gammoth will go on an uncontrollable rampage.
November 6, 2024 at 2:47 PM
Round-shaped tusks protrude from the bottom of Gammoth's jaw. These tusks become larger and harder as the Gammoth grows, and it uses them to destroy any obstacles that block its path during its travels.
November 6, 2024 at 2:45 PM
Gammoth's trunk is incredibly strong, and it uses specialized spines found under that appendage to help it grasp objects. These "trunkspines" can pierce through solid rock.

With its trunk alone, Gammoth is capable of picking up and throwing large flying wyverns like Tigrex.
