Dear threatened river
China bids for Thames Water
Wounded to the core

The privatisation of water by Thatcher has been a unmitigated disaster.

Thankful to The Boathouse, my Wallingford local, for letting me fill my 10 gallon water container. I pay serious money for Environment Agency registration but I am not beholden to massively polluting Thames Water which has been asset stripped by its amoral shareholders and pays lying CEO £millions.

It doesn't take long to melt the ice aboard Snowy. Previous owner, the honest carpenter, insulated her beautifully. By the time I've boiled the kettle for coffee and porridge, the ice has thawed. This was yesterday before setting off for habitual Thursday in Oxford. #thames

Coldest night so far
Covid dead generate guilt
Just now Geese fly by

Bright sunshiny day
Snowy registered for year
Paperwork done high

Whirpools in the sun
Jack Frost lingers in meadows
Chilled tranquility

Icy on Thames Path
Reclining Willow Lady
Hazy view through bridge

Pause: current takes her
Slow progress against the stream
Grove of Twisted Yews

I've said this before
Childlike: still and curious
Immersed in nature

A ghost in torquoise?
New level of awareness?
Saw him not he me

Red-breasted Robin
Warm from rowing despite chill
Just incidences

Excellent acoustic bounce busking Chain Lane in chilly Reading yesterday. There's been a busking hiatus in recent weeks so good get my street entertaining mojo back. It is the ultimate art. Just to make music for passers but, intentions and motivations have to be deep. Money is a small part of it.

less than ten minutes drifting back which was a delightful sensation. Good work out and Tender's pins severely tested. 2

Thames Kingfisher 155 (since late April). After lull river is rising again with strong stream. Rowed Tender into the stream, stopping for a while at 'Twisted Yew Grove' to catch a few of haikus. Progress was slow but boat kept moving. Approx one and a half hours rowing upstream...1

Dreaming memory
Kissing and consumation
Fitfully damp night

Slow dank dismal dawn
Rain ceased, Willow is dripping
Darkly rising Sun

Intoxication
Austere sensuality
Destined to return?

Laugh at your antics
Balance work and play
Reclaim vulnerability

That's very much what the Thames Otter seemed to be advising and demonstrating

My first ever sighting, as memorable as seeing a Duckbill Platypus near Geelong as a teenager.

Happy and creative Beaver Moon to you, Elle.
