With MGS Delta, I find myself conflicted. While it is a beautiful visual remake, its bones and soul are exactly the same as its PS2 counterpart. It’s a nice playground with outdated, janky gameplay that really left me wanting more. This is a game that could have used some creative reimagining.

Mario Kart World is a fun iteration of the series’ formula. It has interesting tracks, a vibrant world to explore, lots of characters, and engaging charm. Unfortunately, the free roam lacks clear objectives and rewards. Knockout Tour is an interesting twist. Overall, it feels a little underbaked.

After 2 months, Switch 2 is becoming a favorite console due to its premium build, buttery smooth feel of the control sticks and face buttons. I’m not a fan of the screen’s low refresh rate or its short battery life. However its size and graphical power are incredible while being comfortable to hold.

Doom The Dark Ages is an great chaotic FPS experience. It’s littered with fun collectibles, tough enemies, interesting story, and loads of secrets to uncover. Unfortunately, it does drag for a bit but the ending rebounds it. I highly recommend for those hungering for a great Doom game.

Finished the epic masterpiece, Expedition 33. What a truly generational RPG that honors past genre staples while plowing ahead with new ideas in turned-based combat. It presents like a macabre rich oil painting complimented by a classical score second to none. It’s truly something to experience.

Assassins Creed Shadows is a fantastic game that sits atop of the RPG-style subseries. While I prefer the classic style AC games more, this is a great entry marred only by the over abundance of quests, tasks, and looting. I mostly stuck to the main quest line and loved everything it had to offer!

Beat FF9 on Switch. This is the 3rd version of this game that I’ve played and my love for FF9 (in general) is still strong. Unfortunately, this version suffered from lock-ups and glitches. The QoLIs help make it a better experience but this is a game that deserves a full remake. Overall, a good port

I took a retro safari playing a few classic Disney games I enjoyed as a kid. The nostalgia was strong but it surprised me how it well it demonstrates the SNES vs. Genesis. Each Disney title includes both versions and acts as an educational journey of hardware strengths and weaknesses. 🧵

Replayed TMNT Shredder’s Revenge and this truly is an amazing brawler with tons of heart. It has beautiful art, 90s-inspired soundtrack, an easy-to-learn (but deep) combat system and so much fan service to the TMNT series. Much like Sonic Mania, this is the definitive iteration of retro itself.

Omg… I think I really have one! Looking out for a cancellation notice but it seems my Walmart order from last night’s cluster went through…. *crossing fingers*

Dragon Age The Veilguard is a masterpiece. It has an engaging, interesting story despite it being built familiar tropes. It has a diverse group of supporting characters I grew to endear greatly. Combat is snappy, quests are meaningful, and I couldn’t help but do everything I could find. ❤️

Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3) was my first platinum trophy. I couldn’t put it down and wanted to experience everything. It would be the first of 2 plats that I currently possess. ❤️

Completed Xenoblade Chronicles for my first time. This is also my first touch of the series and I was blown away. It’s a masterful RPG with an engaging battle system, deep story, great characters, and tons of exploration. I’m sorry I ever slept on this series. Luckily I have XC2 and 3 to play next!

It’s been 19 years since I first played Okami on PS2- never finished it.. until today, when I finally reached the end (on Switch). It was a fun game with competent Zelda mechanics and an awesome art style. Unfortunately it felt too drawn out at times resulting in a bloated 35 hour playtime.

Just rolled credits on Star Wars Outlaws and can whole heartedly say it’s my favorite Star Wars game. It was a brisk 30 hours of action, heartfelt story, and nonstop fun. It’s a great mix of Uncharted, Assassins Creed, and a hint of GTA. I had such a great! Pure masterpiece!

I completed the criminally underrated The Order 1886 and wow… it was an amazing experience with its hearty cover shooter gameplay, stylish Victorian beauty, and gothic horror elements wrapped in a succulent story. It’s a game I didn’t expect would blow me away… and here I am. Breathless.

I finished Half Life 2 for the first time. I can see it was a very polished game for 2005 but sadly, the OG Xbox version struggled mightily to run it well. I appreciate its modern mechanics and great level design but it felt a bit drawn out at times. Overall, I liked it and recommend it on better HW

Ninja Gaiden 2 back 2008 was a game I was determined to finish despite my struggle with its steep difficulty level. I pushed myself to the limit and reached the end. I vowed never to go back. Then this remaster arrived and I tried it out of curiosity. Unexpectedly, I loved every second of it.

Crow Country is a tribute to PS1-era survival horror. It’s full of fun puzzles, interesting collectibles, classic point & shoot mechanics, creepy foes, and the most gloriously simple and blurry graphics to hit the Switch. Oh and the story is really interesting! Highly recommend!

⚠️: do not buy this physical game… its online-only and the servers are no longer available. Granted I heard it was bad but would have liked to see for myself. I hate an online-only gaming world. 😡

Finished my 3rd and most complete playthrough of DKC Tropical Freeze. Having just finished DKC Returns, I fully recognize how much improved and masterful this platformer is. The diverse characters, perfect difficulty balance, and unmatched level design really heightened my affection for this title.

Killzone Shadow Fall is a beautiful game with sharp controls. It’s quite a challenge with focus on stealth and espionage combat. Unfortunately, I struggled to identify objectives, diverges from scripted paths, and felt frustrated by constant failure. I finished it but it was a chore at times.

Rolled credits on DKC Returns HD this past weekend and realized how much I love this entry, especially with fewer Wii gimmicks. Unfortunately, it’s many mine cart and rocket levels detract from the experience. This HD version has some better difficulty balancing but could’ve been so much better!

Received a PlayStation from my friend the other day. I popped in RE1 to “test it” and couldn’t put it down. It’s such a special game with fun puzzles, creepy vibe, and classic RE tank-controls gameplay. Kicking Tyrants butt was a joy! Highly recommend all RE fans play it through at least once!

Ryse: Son of Rome is a solid action brawler with a beautiful visual presentation and a decent story. It’s nothing groundbreaking but is an entertaining 10 hour romp. It reminds me of a simplified God of War (2018) with fewer compelling elements. Give it a try if you’re curious.
