States must not use their internal division of powers to avoid legal obligations (Vienna Convention).

If you want the BC Greens to take a clear policy stance on Palestine here are some ways to get your voice heard:

To be quite clear, ordering liquor to stock the shelves of BC liquor stores is fully within provincial control. They could simply stop tomorrow. It is not only within provincial jurisdiction, it is an obligation under international law.

The NDP’s record is a racist double standard - banning US and Russian alcohol for political reasons while claiming Palestine is a federal issue.

Will the BC Green’s record be one of courage or cowardice?

Green Leadership Candidates can either offer business as usual OR candidates can differentiate themselves from the provincial NDP by platforming Palestinian solidarity through commitments for principled action.

@bcndpcaucus.bsky.social allows the sale of these wines in BCL with complete disregard for international law.

Since October 2023, ecocide, forced starvation, and devastating attacks on Palestinian food sovereignty have been a key component of Israel’s genocide, in Gaza, Palestine.

Israeli wines are a direct product of this violence against people and land. Wineries such as Teberberg (which owns and sources from vineyards in the Occupied West Bank), and Galil Winery & Golan Heights Winery (in occupied Syria) are profiting from land theft and apartheid.

Palestinian farmers have long been subjected to severe violence by Israeli settlers, destruction of crops and animals, water restrictions and land seizure, all with the support, protection, and participation of the Israeli military and police forces.

B.C. government officials (including @davidebybc.bsky.social ) and the BCLDB cite a lack of provincial jurisdiction and "consumer choice."
This is a racist double standard.

For 14+ years, the Canada Palestine Association, BDS Vancouver, and supporters, have been calling for the removal of Israeli wine as a concrete step B.C. can immediately take to apply diplomatic pressure on Israel to end its ongoing genocide, apartheid, and illegal occupation in Palestine.
