At the end of the day I'm just musing and I'm still gonna engage with the game in my own way. But I wonder if anyone else thinks direct-to-format printings are The Big Shift in the nature of the game.

Better or worse though? Are there any other changes in philosophy you think matter more?

I don't have any stake in Modern but I can recognize that the format doesn't look anything like it used to, and the Horizons cards kind of homogenize the format.

I personally think Commander was cooler when it was about making decks that could use unwieldy but splashy cards from Standard.

Having powerful cards injected into the format directly makes me feel like I have to be part of an arms race. It feels harder to appreciate what's already there.

This is sick as hell!!
