Used to see Scottie Pippen in the elevator where I walked dogs. His cousin lived there and he parked his silver Rolls out front. Saw him literally all the time. It was only when the doorman tipped me off that I realized who it was. (Hard to tell facial features from 1 foot+ below eye level!)

I think the reason is many people view this through a religified lens: dogs as innocent souls and humans as full of sin. That may be true, but human rights are nonnegotiable. Golden Rule applies here: if you wouldn't want it for you, you should be outraged that your government is doing it to others.
