Bandit's mum

Mum to the best little dog. Irish, living in UK, moving to Germany (thank you EU passport!) Economist + ex-regulator. Obviously Brexit/Trump are unmitigated disasters. Interested in a wide range of views on politics and policy. And funny things!
Agreed. As long as this poison keeps being pumped out by national "newspapers" it will be more and more normalised.

Yep! If masked gunmen can run around the streets without identifying themselves, rounding people up into vans, it is only a matter of time before this explodes.

If the ex-PM of the country is advocating drowning asylum seekers at sea (does he think we can't see through his flowery language?), it's not that big a jump to shooting people on the beaches...
July 12, 2025 at 2:58 PM
And for many people it seems that notion is correct!
July 12, 2025 at 2:49 PM
Agreed. I was really hoping this government would hit the ground running with Leveson 2 (I mean what do they have to lose given how much the press hate them?), and we might finally see the end of this cesspit. But no.
July 12, 2025 at 2:48 PM
And presumably someone who fully intends to claim his £115,000 a year Public Duty Costs Allowance as an ex PM?
July 12, 2025 at 2:36 PM
You do wonder how a party can go from "worst prime minister ever" to "wow, this one's even worse". And yet they did!
July 12, 2025 at 2:27 PM
Yep! This poison day in day out.
July 12, 2025 at 2:25 PM
Yep - disaster was definitely his high water mark. Does he think we're all bamboozled by the flowery language? Does he think we don't know exactly what he's implying?
July 12, 2025 at 2:20 PM
As long as he raises his profile, damage is irrelevant
July 12, 2025 at 2:18 PM
It sounds even better in french!
July 12, 2025 at 2:17 PM
It is vile the way it is all a game to him.
July 12, 2025 at 2:16 PM
When you put it like that it's quite impressive 😕 Seriously tho, any normal human being would at least have learned*something* from being an abject failure as PM. But not him. See also Truss.
July 12, 2025 at 2:15 PM
Yet he doesn't want to own any of the mess it has created.
July 12, 2025 at 2:12 PM
Yep! Anything to stay "relevant" no matter how untrue, damaging, rubbish it is
July 12, 2025 at 2:11 PM
Meanwhile a daily diet of these lies and inflammatory nonsense is fed into homes across the country...
July 12, 2025 at 2:09 PM
He just doesn't care. And he thinks we can't see it because he wraps it up in ridiculous language.
July 12, 2025 at 2:08 PM
Just when you think the bar can't be set any lower...
July 12, 2025 at 2:07 PM
It still baffles me how that happened.
July 12, 2025 at 2:07 PM
At least they occasionally add some wit and charm. Unlike Johnson.
