If theres a genuinely good deal relevant to me, it will go kinda viral in groups i follow, and by the time i see it, it’ll be sold out. Doesn’t feel even worth engaging. Also seems like most stuff just gets marked up to make the discount look bigger. Awful experience like you said

Is there a good estimate of the impact (Taylor’s Version) had on the value of the original IP? I want to believe it was a losing investment for them, but it seems likely that she paid more than they did to buy it back.

I feel like tracing the history of calendaring, and what makes it so surprisingly hard, from like human assistants to whatever pre-dated Exchange through to the current promises of ai assistants would give a solid understanding of business software history

I got into an argument with my dad about this. Most of the tariffs seem predicated on a made up economic emergency that apparently had escaped anyone else’s attention.

Like when AI puts stars in the unlit part of the moon that would be blocking those stars.

It probably wouldn’t mean much, but i kinda wish polls would ask the hypothetical, if the president were a democrat, how concerned would you be about the same behavior. I’m pretty confident the R results would change drastically, but the others would not

Can I hold the door for them while they swipe? This has been my work around at my kids daycare if i recognize the person. Holding the door, but also policing that they actually scan, and saying something like “you’ll badge in anyway right?” Feels net neutral versus slamming the door in their face.

Only $6b to develop a functional nuclear program? What can Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman learn from Kim’s efficiency?

I haven’t read the book, but i have heard Klein and Thompson in a couple interviews, and they haven’t mentioned the scorched-earth GOP opposition over the last ~30 years even once while talking about how dems fail to govern.

His net worth in a recent google search was $337B. Him lighting $26M on fire is kind of equivalent to someone with a net worth of $1m donating about $77.

If his net worth is $337B and he’s sending $500k per year… that’s like someone with a net worth of $1 million sending $1.50, right? Its not exactly a lot to him.

It’s maddening to talk about a lack of skilled programmers, and then use that as a reason for switching to a modern language when it sounds like paying a team of comp sci graduates to learn COBOL for a year or two would be a fraction of the cost.
