Twelve Republican incumbents lost re-election in Virginia, where Democrats expanded their majority by 13 seats, going from 51 to 64 seats in the 100-member chamber. That tied 2017 for the most incumbents defeated in the chamber’s elections since 2011.

Incumbent Jacob Frey (D) defeated Omar Fateh (D) and 13 other candidates for mayor of Minneapolis. As of 3:22 p.m. EST, Frey had 53% in round 2 of ranked-choice voting and Fateh had 47%. Frey was first elected in 2017.

6. Voters approved Portland, OR, Measure 26-260, increasing the property tax from $80 to $140 per $100,000 in assessed value for five years to fund parks and recreation programs and capital projects.

5. Voters approved Washington SJR 8201, allowing the Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Trust Fund, also known as the WA Cares Fund, to be invested in stocks and equities. The WA Cares Fund is a state program that provides long-term care benefits, funded through a payroll tax.
