I have this eerie feeling that right now no issue or candidate matters. The electorate is a blob of jello that just lurches this way and then that. We could literally produce jack booted thugs with our primaries, or wiccan trans furries and the electorate will just grab it like whatever.

I agree very theoretically. But what do you really think the profession really is these days? Seems to me her incestuous approach to her subject of interest is not actually costly in the success metrics that are actually operating.

I'm seeing a good point in this statement, but am hung up on the fact that lies -even if believed - are not reasons. Maybe real reasons lie behind the lies. Maybe real reasons are mere lust for inflicting pain. Maybe there's not reasons beyond that.
