only the speaker or a validly elected representative of the speaker can swear in new members. That seems to be a problem that no one has yet address or accounted for. Case in point, we can’t get newly elected Rep. Grijalva sworn in which is necessary to move the opening of the Epstein files. (2/2).

There is no way to rig vote totals but it becomes increasingly apparent that they will refuse to swear them in at the congressional level thereby having a similar effect to manipulating the results in the end. There is no magic about who can swear them in but current house rules provide that (1/2)

One of the few things that gets a similar reaction from me, which I've returned to multiple times in recent years, is this from Hannah Arendt in 1951.

If looking for a positive takeaway—because when writing like this resonates, things are not positive—it confirms the historical analogy is fitting.
