I build things then I fail to convince the others to buy them. Currently building Writings - a simple writing app and Notings - a simple note-taking app.

By 2026, contractors specialized in solving problems with all the mess vibe coding is causing will be in high demand.

Opportunity?

Claude took my intention and sent it to Hawaii, and I wanted to reach Phuket.

I build small app that should handle sharing of encrypted content, that needs to be decrypted on the other side. So I leaned on Claude's expertize ("pretend to be a security expert dev...").

Did not work well.

first weekend with zero alcohol after a while.

Ok I got it! All GenAI sucks and we have given it much more minutes than it deserves.

Code generation: it's ok for landing pages and simple apps. Anything more complex is a joke.
Writing: all same, without a soul and voice.
Photos: we've passed the 4 fingers phase but it's still cringe.

*sigh*

We went from complete manual labor in coding, to being 100% frustrated why AI doesn't understand our intentions quite fast.

Illustration of my attempt of trying to replace ChatGPT with Claude.

Green Day - American Idiot on repeat today.

If using ChatGPT as coding companion feels like pairing with a junior developer, using Claude 3.7 feels like working with the smart-ass developer in 2007 that has read 3 PDF books the night before and wants to show you ALL they've learnt. So much overhead.

I always have found Tesla to be an overrated and hyped EV that anyone should 3x reconsider buying it. Cheap in the inside, fancy with gadgets and software and smooth on the outside.

Bluesky is so NOT toxic that it feels weird.

More mind your own business, less cancel culture.

So it looks like OpenAI sold the ai.com domain to DeekSeek. Before I used it as a shortcut to ChatGPT, now it's Deepseek.

I made a crazy decision to travel Berlin - Vienna by train today. I am on my second train (connection) and one more to catch in Salzburg.

The train is comfy but the stress of chasing one train after another has a price and the price is an airplane ticket worth.

I just tried lovable.dev.

I will go cry now in a pillow from how good it is.

I am 4 episodes in Severance 2nd season, and it feels boring as shit. Does it get any better later?
February 18, 2025 at 10:15 AM
Hey yo, what do you use to create high quality screenshots out your webapps? (for usecases like landing page or so)

First they mongered the fear that designers, photographers and creative artists will be replaced. This is only true if you're after mediocre results.

Now they monger the fear that we are screwed, we are to be replaced tomorrow as software developers.

The world is tid-bit confused now.

The worst moment to promote my note taking app is when there is no mobile optimized version deployed yet, but I kind of built authentication and sync to a remote database recently for Notings - if you're at your desktop now, check it out: notings.app

Stop wasting time on focusing on how and if AI is going to replace software development. There is a long way to run until that happens. Instead, get your hands wet in building something useful and learning the great skill software development is, that will create amazing opportunities for you. Ok.

I worry that entry-level developers may become overconfident relying on AI, only to realize it's both a great ally at the start of their career, but a terrible foe once it owns their ass when things get messy, potentially demotivating them from pursuing a career in tech.
January 24, 2025 at 10:32 AM
What if AI creates opportunities for the not skilled groups of workers that will get an increased chance to work?
January 19, 2025 at 8:13 PM
I really like how the white noise bg looks like on Arc's website. So I tried to imitate it for Notings. But because it's white-white, it kind of looks like "dirty".

Borderline to get back to pure white.
January 14, 2025 at 7:22 PM
I am wrapping up the authentication for Notings - see if you can get something out of it, it's still WIP: notings.app

Lesson of the day: Supabase RLSs. I've never defined any of these policies and I learned what's the point of it recently.
