Used this poem for analysis in my AP English Literature class. Unabashedly proud to have been one of the "woke" educators our superintendent of education here in Oklahoma fears. Encouraged critical thinking, empathy, and respect for the power of words.

Enjoying it. A retired math teacher in her seventies (imagine that…that’s what caught my attention first…I forgave the math part) goes on an adventure. It’s framed by answering an email from a former student about what she's learned and unlearned. All sorts of math talk, but accessible:MathMagical!

At one point, we even had a Bible as Literature course. He’s giving himself far too much credit for fixing a problem that doesn’t exist. And spending taxpayer money to buy Bibles that are tied to grift. Heartbreaking and infuriating.

It was never front and center as a symbol of control, never forced on anyone. We said the Pledge of Allegiance and had a moment of silence for contemplation, prayer, or just peace.
