A few pastels taken out of storage and laid out on a table when having a sort-out a while ago (and then bundled up and put away again with all the others). I have a lot of work stored away.

Just finished reading this book which has directed me away from social media at the present time. I love books about the history and characters of the first half of the 20th C. Victoria Glendinning is a wonderful biographer and this is the 2nd of hers I've read. A lot about gardening. #Vita

Three recent oil paintings being prepared for the autumn Cambridge Drawing Society exhibition at the Leys School.
They are not large (61 cm longest side). They are all painted in my own garden with some retouching in the studio.

Large pastel portrait of L from 1990 on a sheet of grey Ingres paper She has several of my portraits but now lives too far away for me to add to them. This one is still in a portfolio along with quite a few others.

I agree and it's very dangerous. I saved this from (of all places) the Daily Mail a while ago but I won't promote them with a link. I found this very interesting.

Always good to glimpse your well-documented space for nature. We have similar mixed hedging surrounding a smaller urban space with many thriving insects, birds, a few frogs (and a lot of slugs and snails). Butterflies so plentiful this year. Foxes visit to chill out. This is from late June.

Working today on this oil on canvas in the garden. Must try not to overdo it. The plants are on a table under a couple of apple trees. Also includes an old African carving of a standing figure holding a staff. #art #oilpainting

We have had so many gatekeeper butterflies this year in our Cambridge garden, mostly fluttering around a herb box with marjoram and oregano. Also speckled woods which I don't remember seeing before. Others of course too many to mention.

A very old still life drawing from when I played electric guitar and was briefly in a rock band. I still play instruments (mostly mandolin and fiddle) but no longer in public. I just mess about with jigs and reels when not painting.

Played that LP over and over again in the '70s/'80s. Still have it.
