Horrendous - but hardly surprising

As an agnostic who was born into Catholicism I can say no one in my very large family took any of the doctrine seriously. We learned it in school, but so much of it was nonsensical or actually went against the teaching of Jesus we just ignored it.

To us, it was a social club and safety net.
