PhD in medieval apocalyptic history, esp. 900-1100, but I try to read broadly. Trying my hand at fiction. All prophecies my own (and most likely wrong). He/him.

Post a female character you like.

Samantha Carter was the embodiment of STEM before the term was popular.

Sometime last century, toddler me heard a line from the OG Transformers *one time*, yet it has lived rent-free in my brain ever since.

I don't want to say an 80s cartoon for children made to sell toys was politically prescient, but, as George Lucas might say, it does rhyme.

I agree with this, and with what Chesterton wrote on the matter regarding "reasonable disagreement" with certain people, such as anti-democratic white supremacist christofascists:

Did you know false imprisonment is among the crimes mentioned in some of the earliest extant legal codes?

"If a man keeps someone captive, this man will go to jail (and) pay fifteen shekels of silver."
-Code of Ur-Namma (c. 21st century BC)

This, in fact, predates Hammurabi.

Humble suggestion regarding inspiration for dirty medieval jokes:
Get a copy of this, turn to almost any page, and go from there. Might help. Might make you yeet it as far as you can throw. It is very...French.

It's very hard to do research-reading for creative writing. Ideas start clicking so fast that it interrupts the reading to think/jot notes and / or is frustrating because I'm nowhere close to ready to write *that* part yet.

Still: I *love* the feeling of research and creativity meshing together.

I can now turn my full reading attention to this. Been on my to-read list for months. Very happy to dive in.
