I never once though about this, because the FF12 pronunciation is I think the same as the 'normal way you would pronounce that word in English if encountered for the first time.' I'd gladly accept another pronunciation if it was established by the creatives - but it always seemed facially obvious.

My son (8) saw the trailer and really wants to see it. I've explained we will only see movies that will plausibly be good, and review well; and neither of those things will be true in this case. His hope that I'm wrong is endearing - I wish I still had hope that movies like this could be good.

I, in general, have no objections to the 'Pixel Remasters' but man do I wish they had the option to switch to the original graphics. This highlights how incredible the original pixel work was. They did it for the music, though I imagine that was a much easier lift.

I was in SF for a conference in 2023. I blew off a bunch of sessions and walked from the Tenderloin, through the coastal parks and then got (literally) lost in the Presidio, now one of my favorite parks. Had to summon a cab to get out when I realized it was a 2 hour walk back.

I disliked much of VIII - promising but weak story, not seeming finished, and the levelling system being nonsense. Yet when I reflect on it I think I enjoyed playing it at the time more than all the other PSX era games. Despite the obvious theoretical superiority of IX.
