Scientist. Dad. Both are frustrating professions.
His legacy goes to 11.

Requiescat in pace, Rob Reiner.

In a world of too many pious hypocrites and hucksters, he struck me as someone who was authentic.

Mike Myers is now officially forgiven for "The Love Guru."

Apropos?

Game of Thrones Tyrion Lannister to Joffrey Baratheon: "We've had vicious kings and we've had idiot kings, but I don't know if we've ever been cursed with a vicious idiot boy king!"

Congratulations Buffalo. Respect to Baltimore.

A server today told me I sound like Jeff Goldblum. I told her I was Jeff Goldblum, and the camera makes me 8” taller.

After last night's snorer between the 49ers and the Rams, and the final nail in the coffin of the 49ers' hopes for the playoffs, my kid wore his 49ers jersey to school on this the last school day of the calendar year.

I'll give him props for loyalty.

Ok. So I’m watching the Cowboys-Bengals game, as done by Simpsons characters on Disney+.

Because I have an 11 year old.

At least my weekend has been better than Bashar al-Assad’s.

Ok, so I take my silver linings where I can.

On the one hand, I think Hunter Biden should face the music. On the other hand, I (and perhaps Joe Biden) have no faith that the Trump administration will treat Hunter fairly… overdoing it for the simple reason his Dad beat Trump in 2020.

I like the Bills. I like the 49ers. I’m ok with the Bills winning. Just not so much.

I'll have to credit the Raiders, still ... they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. The Chiefs are good, but they're also lucky.

It’s not Thanksgiving until your kid sprays Reddi-Whip directly in his mouth.
November 29, 2024 at 12:33 AM
This Thanksgiving, I am not grateful for commercials featuring bad puns with Peyton Manning.

We’ll have pie today. But I won’t use this pumpkin.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Some of the things I _used_ to like about Twitter/X were the comments. I guess now, they're filled up with people who paid Musk for the blue check mark, and they're just not interesting anymore.

Yes, I'm being obvious.

Umm, I may not know too much about football, but the Chiefs beating the Panthers by _just_ three points?!??!?

Southwest isn't always my go-to airline anymore mostly because my family has changed while SWA hasn't. Do I sweat over whether the two of us and our 10 year old will get to sit together, or do we have to pony up the cash for Business Select to make sure that happens?

How Southwest Airlines Lost Its Groove
For decades, the company made money even as other airlines stumbled and went bankrupt. But the carrier has struggled to adapt to changes in air travel.

Before my kid got into football, I might watch the Super Bowl, but not much else. After two seasons watching with him, I'm now on my feet jumping with joy with Josh Allen's touchdown run. Maybe that's a fringe benefit of parenthood.

There. I've made my first Bluesky post.
