9/ Bass Reeves wasn’t just a lawman; he was a legend. A man of integrity, strength, and skill who changed the face of the Wild West. If you didn’t know his name before, you do now.

Follow for more untold stories about the Black legends/Stories they didn’t teach us about. 🙌🏾

8/ Bass Reeves worked as a marshal for 32 years, retiring in 1907. He arrested outlaws until his last days, proving that justice didn’t care about skin color, it just needed courage.

7/ Hollywood loves cowboys, but they gave us myths instead of facts. Many historians believe Bass Reeves inspired the Lone Ranger, a masked hero riding a white horse, bringing justice to the West.

But the Lone Ranger was whitewashed! It’s time we reclaim the real story.

6/ His life was like a Western movie: shootouts, epic arrests, and wild chases. Bass was in 14 gunfights and never got shot. Not once. Outlaws said trying to kill Reeves was like “trying to shoot a ghost.”

5/ Bass didn’t play favorites, even with his own family. When his son was wanted for murder, Reeves took the case and arrested him personally. Imagine the integrity it took to do that 😮‍💨

4/ One of his greatest feats? He once tracked a gang for 32 days, surviving on scraps of food and sleeping under the stars. When he finally caught them, they were so shocked they didn’t even resist 😂

Bass wasn’t just a lawman; he was a FORCE OF NATURE, He feared NO ONE!

3/ Bass had 3,000+ arrests under his belt. He brought in murderers, thieves, and outlaws who made most marshals run the other way.

But here’s the wild part! Reeves had to memorize wanted posters because he couldn’t read. The man was a walking database 😂

2/ In 1875, Reeves was appointed as one of the first Black U.S. Marshals west of the Mississippi. His job? Catch the meanest outlaws in the Wild West. And he did it with style 🤠

Fun fact: He rode a white stallion and carried two Colt revolvers. Sound familiar?

1/ Bass was born enslaved in 1838. He escaped during the Civil War, fled to Indian Territory, and learned to speak multiple Native American languages. By the time slavery ended, he was an expert tracker and marksman 🎯

Bass Reeves – The Real Lone Ranger 🤠

Bass Reeves wasn’t just a cowboy, he was a LEGEND. Born into slavery, he escaped, became a U.S. Marshal, and brought justice to the Wild West. Hollywood didn’t tell his story, but I will. This man deserves a movie. Let’s dive in

10/ Mixtapes birthed the streaming era. SoundCloud? Spotify? Those are just evolved mixtape platforms. Artists went direct to fans, bypassing labels, and made BILLIONS. Without the Mixtape Era, hip-hop’s $10B industry wouldn’t exist.

9/ DatPiff & LiveMixtapes stats: By 2010, 5M mixtapes were streamed/downloaded monthly. Lil Wayne, Drake, and Gucci Mane topped the charts. These platforms showed labels that fans didn’t need albums—they wanted instant access.

8/ Soulja Boy’s mixtape SouljaBoyTellem. com was downloaded 10M+ times in 2007. With CDs, LimeWire, and YouTube, he turned $500 in blank discs into $1M. Fun fact: He taught himself how to code his website at 16!
November 16, 2024 at 12:10 AM
7/ Gucci Mane dropped 40 mixtapes between 2006–2012, selling millions of units. Atlanta ate up every Trap God tape. Fun fact: Gucci claimed he spent $1M in studio fees during his mixtape run. He was building an empire.

6/ FACT: 50 Cent released 12 mixtapes in 2 years, selling $2M+ independently. He remixed chart-topping tracks to the point where In Da Club was basically a mixtape single. Labels realized: “We can’t stop him; we have to sign him.”
November 16, 2024 at 12:10 AM
5/ Drake’s So Far Gone wasn’t a “label release.” It was a free mixtape on MySpace & DatPiff. Yet, it earned 250K downloads in 2 weeks & sold 500K physical copies. The mixtape outperformed albums. Labels HAD to sign him.
