Cyclists can use the whole lane. Or, you know, get hit by a car in the lane that has absolutely no protection.

I live in Topeka Ks and all we have is a painted bike in the car lane. At least will make a sound when the car hits them possibly alerting g the driver and cyclist. I fear for my life riding here every time I ride and have been hit twice.
