Maybe this isn't the ideal moment for that level of detail. Do people generally agree that the current situation makes clear that *no policy* grounded in private insurance coverage is up to the task? No matter what we call the replacement?

See the conflict here? If you're right that GOPers NEVER will vote to restore the subsidies, then your original point that Dems can hold out longer later doesn't make any difference. Voters know where the lines are, which is why 10s of millions of people turned out last week in an off-off-year.

By which time the ACA subsidies will have expired. They're never coming back. Best case scenario, this becomes the moment when the mainstream finally realizes that Medicare for All is the best answer, but that's a long way from happening, and a lot of people are going to suffer in the meantime.
