After a while there was only one frog and one scorpion left. As the frog looked at his friends dying around him, he asked "How can I trust you when all of your friends have killed all of mine?" "Trust me," the scorpion replied, its stinger held high, "I haven't stabbed you, so you can trust me."

The scorpions simply replied "That was just one of us, look how many of us haven't stabbed you!" The frogs, assuaged, continued to carry the scorpions. The cycle continues, and with every death the scorpions retained their argument "See how I haven't stabbed you? You can trust me!"

The frogs debated among themselves and asked the scorpions a simple question: "You guys have stingers. How do we know they won't stab us?" The scorpions assured them "The stinger doesn't stab on its own, it's the scorpion, and you can trust us, we're good scorpions."
