Love killdeers. They often nest in my pasture, and this past year the nest was right in the path between the barn and the water trough for my 2 horses. The 3 eggs somehow survived and I saw at least 2 of the hatchlings.

Saw him/her fly to the post... would've loved to have seen the dive.

Grew up along the west bank of the Wabash River, across from Terre Haute. There were pipes running across/under the river into the wetlands area south of where we lived that were attached to sprayers. Not exactly sure what poisons they were spraying but it killed everything it touched.
