My favorite part of Tim’s book is is rather blunt assessment of Tom Cruise. He didn’t dislike him, but he was just utterly indifferent to him. . He didn’t get his appeal, and rather dreaded interacting with him.

Happy 100th birthday to late Rock Hudson. Underestimated as an actor, (especially by himself), he had a range & ease with different genres that most actors wish they had.
His sad death is a milestone event in the 1980s, & in HIV/AIDS history. If only he lived to know how many lives he changed.

Tubi also has the legendary documentary, Holy Ghost People (1967), by Peter Adair, about snake-handling Pentecostals in W. Virginia. It’s really good, it has just insane visuals.
Inexplicably, it was made into an outright horror movie later on, which is very, very bad. 🤣

Highly, highly recommend this book. It’s a quick, short read, but written a lot of humor and passion about the period in which he filmed Family Ties during the day, and Back to the Future at night.

I take his point that he wants to use it sparingly, and with creative responsibility, which I think he did. It’s hard to capture the raw realness and wildness and texture of wild animals in CGI, and he’s gotten so much else right in this movie, so I’m not bothered.

In this day & age, for safety and budgetary reasons, it’s the best to use CGI with any sort of animal stuff. So I don’t begrudge him for doing it. I just wish it looked a little better. 🤷🏻♀️
