But... it gets interesting because 2 Eastern District of NY judges have rules that standalone websites do not count as places of public accommodation. But they also said that 'very recently' two Southern District judges have ruled similarly.

From 2018-2023, more than 20k ADA-based lawsuits for digital accessibility.

2023: 4,630
2024: 4,224

2,545 in federal court under ADA
385 in California under Unruh
1,294 in NY state court (NYS civil rights laws, NYC Human Rights laws)

So that's 60/40 split federal vs NY/CA

The US is all about litigation as a remedy, the EU generally seems more about pushing to remediate, but they want some teeth to fall back on. That said, I have a few tidbits from a UseableNet presentation last week on a11y lawsuits in the USA.
