Book review 📚: Woodworm By Layla Martínez

An excellent book. There are themes of class struggles and generational trauma, but it never feels like it is trying to be preachy. Instead it grips you hard and tears you through the story, leaving you to put the pieces together after. 4.5/5⭐️

Book Review 📚: Catalina by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio

Well written, but I disliked the protagonist so much that it sucked all the joy out of reading it. 2.5/5⭐️

Book Review 📚: Ghost Pirate Gambit
By Jessie Kwak

A fun, well-written, fast-paced sci-fi novel. Not a life-changing book, but it kept me engaged. The characters were likable without being one-dimensional, and I felt like the universe was bigger than the story, making it feel more alive. 4.5/5⭐️

Book review 📚: The Saint of Bright Doors by Vajra Chandrasekera

A story of an “unchosen” young man trying to find his way in a strange and harrowing world. Beautifully, if somewhat esoterically, written. I appreciate that the setting was quite foreign to me, but the themes were resonant. 4/5⭐️

Book review 📚: The Decagon House Murders by Yukito Ayatsuji. A classic style murder mystery. Usually I can figure out “who done it” but this one kept me guessing. Well written, well translated, worth a read if you’re a fan of the genre. 4/5⭐️

Book review 📚: Chasing Homer by László Krasznahorkai

I have no idea what I just read, but I had a good time reading it. Interesting multi-sensory experience with the inclusion of the music and artwork. 3.5/5 ⭐️

Things feel rather grim, so here is a sweet picture of my dog enjoying some wiggles at the park. 🐾🐶

Thinking about these yarn swifts I saw in the Skogar Museum in Iceland. In a land with very few tree, they must have been very precious to those who used them. 🧶
