Rerouting power through auxiliary couplings. Manually compensating for phase overrun.
Is that when you realized adults weren’t necessarily smarter than you? Mine was when the 1st Spirt had an engine fire. My parents went out and got another on the next day.

At least your parents sprung for the alloy wheels. AC and cruise control were the only options my parents went for on the 3 Spirt/Acclaims we had.

This is the best take I've seen in this tread.
February 3, 2026 at 4:28 PM
So you can shit on them for not sharing every single policy point with you?
February 3, 2026 at 4:26 PM
There are very few people that can flip a switch and run for governor. The only progressive left candidate that can field a state wide campaign is running for senate. I don’t see Amy vetoing any bills that can make it out of a DFL legislature.
February 3, 2026 at 3:48 PM
Cool. Show me a MN Mamdani. Because last I checked we don’t have one.
February 3, 2026 at 3:41 PM
As long as she's not caught day drinking in Packers gear, she can win a state wide race easily. Which means: more resources to expand control of the MN Senate and get out of the power sharing deal in the MN house. She'll fill the executive branch with a bunch of mainline DFL'ers, like Walz did.
February 3, 2026 at 6:36 AM
So maybe we should get her out of a legislative position. If giving her the governorship mean we have the opportunity to put someone more progressive in her senate seat, I'm for it.
February 3, 2026 at 6:12 AM
I don't see her vetoing any legislation coming from a DFL controlled legislature and that's all I really give a fuck about from the governor.
February 3, 2026 at 6:09 AM
Oh, she's not passing any purity test from the left. When I say "left leaning" I mean she's generally pro-choice and ok on LGBT issues (needs to be better on the T but that's everyone).
February 3, 2026 at 5:34 AM
I'd rather have Peggy in the Senate at this point.
Amy's a left leaning centrist institutionalist, parking her in the Gov's office is probably the best option right now. It gives us the opportunity to put someone spicier in her senate seat later.
February 3, 2026 at 5:00 AM
Ok, name a progressive politician in MN that can spin up a state wide campaign in the next 3 months.
February 3, 2026 at 4:37 AM
Minnesotan here. Amy is, fine. Very frustrating lately, not nearly as progressive as I would like l, but she’ll do. Because:
A) I don’t see her vetoing any bills coming from a DFL legislature.
B) she can sleep walk this race and we can worry about electing Peggy and turfing Brad out of MN-01.

I’d argue 9/11 itself made hijacking irrelevant.
Pre 9/11: a couple ppl die and Chuck Norris has to rescue you from Lebanon.
Post 9/11: you get choked the fuck out w/ a usb C cable if you’re too rude to the cabin crew.
February 1, 2026 at 7:38 PM
Oh they’re loosing MN-01 and they know it. It’s mostly ag and all the bigger towns have significant immigrant populations.

To hit the dumb 0-60 time, the stock CT tire is worthless under 40F. They turn into rocks.

Guarantee we haven’t heard the worst yet. Just based on how ICE acts in public, their detention facilities are horror shows.

So you’ve met Uncle Dean then.

Reds, vitamin c, and cocaine is the advice I was given as a lad.

No. Mom did.

I think “ship disappears and reappear somewhere else” is a valid story telling mechanism is the ST universe. But like the rest of Disco they fucked it up.
It’s like when someone “reinterprets” a classic dish and you’re left wondering why it has cilantro purée in everything.

No but they are working on teleportation. You just write the spore drive as a ship sized transporter with a “fuck me, the running costs on this are insane” biologicalish fuel source
December 23, 2025 at 6:43 PM
The spore could have worked with 2 corrections:
1. Better in universe explanation about how it worked (subspace resonance or something)
2: a plausible explanation for why it’s not common (a supernova worth of neutrinos to bring the fungus to maturity)
