“I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual. It is surprising how contented one can be with nothing definite – only a sense of existence.”

Happy Thanksgiving weekend Canada!!!!

Today’s experiment. I applied a W/C wash onto each paper strip (1 pink, 1 blue, 2 different yellows), then left to dry. I then topped with soap suds, dabbing various W/Cs onto the suds. I wonder how they’ll look once the bubbles have dried? The last image was taken accidentally by my iPhone ❤️🤩

I would love to know what Tom Smothers would have said about the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert… I still remember the shock of CBS cancelling The Smothers Brothers Comedy hour in 1969, clearly for political reasons.

Finished the organic garlic scape sea salt today, yield 1kg - dried, hand ground, packed and labeled. Should last a while!

Everything smells like garlic 🧄🤣 I just processed 4 bundles of garlic scapes (about 850 grams after trimming) with coarse sea salt, and scooped onto 4 trays in the dehydrator. I much prefer this to the oven drying method, especially as our oven runs hot: a more vibrant colour and even dehydration.

Hurray! Kitsilano Pool opens Saturday June 21…my summer hangout!

The #ArbutusGreenway is so lush at the moment… in just a few steps I came across meadow crane's-bill aka meadow geranium, St John’s Wort (always a sign that Summer Solstice is nigh!), salmon berry (TBC!), some opportunistic blackberries, and yarrow, some of which were entwined with bindweed.

I have been known to use many of these words, and I’m sure many of us would recognize a few. Original source unknown (seen on FB).

Walking on the #ArbutusGreenway in Kerrisdale this afternoon, I saw this charming piece of art on a pole. I don’t know the history, but thank you to whomever shared it!

Our local Queen of the May — hawthorn — was not quite ready for Bealtaine but is getting close… so fragrant (and medicinal!).

Such a lovely day yesterday, perfect for Bealtaine! I enjoyed my Gaelic class at #brockhousesociety and then enjoyed a walk along Jericho Beach.

If Danielle Smith thinks Ottawa doesn’t like Alberta — complaining that Trudeau “overtly attacked” their economy for the past 10 years — can she tell us why he purchased the Trans Mountain pipeline (unpopular + costly) from KinderMorgan to export Alberta crude?
