John Schneider aka THE global variable
I’m of many minds about AAA games as a consumer and hobbyist game developer/modder

I think one of the major factors to game costs being so high is that the development is often done primarily by people who have never done it before

Inexperience leads to inefficiency and worse results at high cost

Yeah, of course, where else would I order bears?

You know, I did.

I think your original post is a typo because Space Bears is the right idea

A human space ship full of regular bears must complete a by-the-books docking with the ISS

Sounds like a potentially fun game jam game

Bluetooth is a polling protocol with a low polling rate and it upsets me greatly

I’m like a bunny in the sense that I jump up into the air and kick wildly when threatened

Love the inclusion of an on-screen cross to make it easier to contemplate Jesus’ sacrifice during gameplay

There’s a strange imbalance in the horizontal vs vertical spacing with things like the inspector. You get lots of empty horizontal space but elements are jammed together vertically with only a few pixels between them

I cannot help but imagine her doubled over, sweating and straining surrounded by all this

Dude saw you pull the hair out and was still like “if you want me to eat whatever that is I’ll eat it”

Those cowards won’t let me jump on elevators!

There’s nothing I love more than when games parent the player to a moving object to walk around in/on it (See Halo 3’s Scarabs.) Elevators generally count but not if they play tricks like preventing jumping

I know it’s hard to solve but c’mooon be cool

This is not the attitude that built the open source community into what it is today and it is not the attitude that will see it blossom further

Control is no graphical slouch, especially with ray tracing, but Alan Wake 2 is a noticeable step up.

That said, the glass reflections in control are genuinely hard to compete with
December 5, 2025 at 1:14 PM
Yep, Alan Wake 2 stands on its own if you want it to

Huge mistake. We’ve never recovered.

Using C++ does something to people’s minds that makes them think that this is a good idea
December 4, 2025 at 6:04 PM
Not me, I know they’re real.
One day I’m gonna prove it
December 3, 2025 at 1:28 PM
Cowards, the lot of them

They’re just afraid of what raw posting potential looks like

Would also like to know this

Microsoft is just slowly turning a dial labeled “shittiness” further and further to see how much they can get away with

I’m pretty much all Linux and MacOS now and it’s been pretty great so far

I don’t wake up to new ads in my operating system anymore and I gotta say I don’t miss it

I simply love that whoever made the shader for generic background monitors loaded up Windows Command Prompt, ran some commands that print a bunch of text, took a screenshot of it, and slapped that in for the scrolling code

Feels very Counter-Strike in a way I’m fond of
