I'm not in a position to be able to afford the game at launch. I have merely gleaned what I can from watching people play it. I like the aesthetic design and music a lot, there are certainly choices I disagree with but as a longtime fan of the series I will definitely be playing it eventually

That is a wild assumption to make. And you pedantically accuse me of using the word defend incorrectly, and then immediately assume I'm accusing Nintendo of committing a "crime"? lol

I find this an extremely strange business practice to defend, whether or not the music adds anything to the experience is irrelevant, locking a single music track behind a seperate physical purchase when they are already charging $100 for the game in my country is just adding insult to injury

But the Mario movie *was* nothing but fan service? Anyone claiming it wasn't full of plot holes and continuity errors and barely qualified as an actual "film" is kidding themselves....and this is coming from a Mario fan. Being a fan of something doesn't mean being unwilling to admit when it's bad
