I'm not quite sure why you're getting upset with me TBH. I only raised the fact he's an independent to illustrate why he CAN criticise the Dem leadership, when other senators might not feel they have the same luxury.
And I agree, he clearly cares about people. He's sadly a rarity for that.

RUK won't be in control in Westminster IMO. Their biggest issue is that they've won control of a bunch of English councils. People can now see first hand how utterly useless and full of shit they are. Add in tactical voting and I'm certain they aren't going to sweep to power, nowhere near.

Much as I want Starmer gone Streeting the absolute LAST person they should replace him with. He's one of the big reasons why I defected from Labour to the Greens.

And that's probably why he's not a Democrat, because the Democrats are a centre-right party. Anyway, the point I was making is that as an extremely popular Independent he has the luxury of being able to criticise the Democrat leadership without consequence. I'm glad he did it, they need calling out.

Bernie isn't hard left. He's a true centrist really, by global standards. The Overton Window in the USA is tilted way towards the right, has been since at least the McCarthy era. Even the likes of Obama, who would be classed centre-right in most countries gets labelled a socialist ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I used to play EU3, and the first thing you had to do if playing a European nation was take out France as soon as you possibly could. Before it could unify ideally, otherwise the game got much harder.

Party Central Office parachuted their person in instead, a man they decided was the future of the party. He won the seat, yeah, but the locals never got a say.
The safer the seat, the more likely the locals don't get to represent it.

Until three years ago I lived in a super safe Labour seat, and was a member of the local CLP. We had to choose a new candidate due to our previous MP standing down. Our preferred candidate was a lady who had run our local council for years, knew the area well, and was respected. We got overruled.

I've been saying for about three decades that money has increasingly become divorced from the value of work. If we have jobs needing doing and workers/materials to do them we shouldn't allow a parasitic class to tell us we can't proceed because they control some numbers on computers.
